On the portal (home page) there is a section for news. Can news that are automatically generated from the system i.e. document changed, new document etc.. be of a different color than the news we add?

It is not possible to give these news items a different color. You cannot adjust the display.
On the Dutch Zenya Community, you could add an idea for this. You will need an account on that community. This way, we can track whether more organizations are interested in this.
